Yung6ix Recounts Narrow Escape from Robbery in Los Angeles
Nigerian rapper Onome Onokohwomo, better known as Yung6ix, recently shared his terrifying experience of surviving an armed robbery attack in Downtown Los Angeles. Taking to social media, Yung6ix recounted how he narrowly escaped death when a bullet fired by the assailant missed him.
In a post shared on X (formerly Twitter), written in a mix of English and pidgin, the US-based rapper revealed he was unharmed but deeply shaken. He described the ordeal as “mind-boggling,” reflecting on how close he came to losing his life.
Expressing gratitude, Yung6ix credited his survival to divine intervention and his mother’s prayers. He wrote, “I just wanna thank God for working harder than satan. They just tried to rob me in DTLA. Fck my car up. Never been this shocked in a minute. I’m grateful. Mama’s prayers working.”*
He went on to say that the exact path of the bullet was still unknown, as he was in the car during the incident. Reflecting on how the situation could have turned fatal, he added, “I thought this guy was gonna kill me bro. God forbid, na so I for just go yesterday? God is definitely working overtime for me.”
This harrowing incident comes just days after another Nigerian celebrity, DJ Big N, shared his own near-death experience during a robbery in South Africa. Unlike Yung6ix, DJ Big N was injured in the attack, sustaining a gunshot wound to the leg and losing personal belongings worth $114,000.
DJ Big N described the incident as the worst night of his life but credited his survival to God’s grace and his mother’s prayers. Despite the losses, he took away a powerful lesson from the experience.
