SDP’s Adebayo Ready to Drop 2027 Presidential Ambition for a Stronger Candidate
Adewole Adebayo is switching up the game. The Social Democratic Party (SDP) flagbearer from 2023 just made a bold move, and he’s totally open to stepping aside for a more capable candidate in the 2027 elections. Yep, you read that right!
Speaking on Inside Sources with Laolu Akande on Channels Television, Adebayo didn’t mince words. He made it clear that for him, Nigeria first, ambition second.
“I pray that if there’s someone better suited to fix Nigeria, my ambition should not stand in the way. We need a country that works,” he said.
Now, that’s a breath of fresh air! While some politicians would do anything to stay in the race, Adebayo is focused on the bigger picture of Nigeria’s progress. He assured Nigerians that the SDP is gearing up to present a solid candidate who can take on the ruling party in 2027: no gimmicks, no tribal or religious politics, just a real shot at change.
Adebayo knows that leadership isn’t about personal glory but about getting things done. That’s why the SDP is committed to picking a candidate that even non-party members can trust.
“When we make our choice, we want Nigerians everywhere to feel a sense of relief and say, ‘Finally, this platform has given us a real option,’” he explained.
With so many people joining the party, Adebayo welcomes the growth, but with a warning. New members must align with SDP’s values. No bad habits allowed!
“If you’re joining us, be ready for some serious political sanitization. Not because we don’t respect you, but because some of you are coming from highly infected political zones,” he said, drawing a sharp comparison to COVID-era disinfecting measures.
Adebayo also touched on the trend of politicians jumping from party to party when things don’t go their way. He mentioned names like former Kaduna governor Nasir El-Rufai and ex-VP Atiku Abubakar, pointing out that the SDP isn’t about personal agendas, it’s about the people.
“This party isn’t for politicians. It’s for Nigerians. If you want in, you start at the ward level and you must respect the party’s constitution,” he said.
With 2027 still a few years away, one thing is clear: Adebayo isn’t here to play by the old rules. Whether he runs or steps aside, his mission is clear: Nigeria deserves better, and SDP is ready to deliver!
Now, the real question is: Will other politicians take a page from Adebayo’s book and put Nigeria first? Or will we see the same old power struggles? Time will tell. One thing’s for sure: the 2027 election just got a whole lot more interesting!
