SDP Youths Kick Against El-Rufai’s Defection
Former Kaduna State governor Nasir El-Rufai just ditched the All Progressives Congress (APC) and made a grand entrance into the SDP. But hold up, our youth coalition isn’t having any of it!
El-Rufai might think he’s making a power move, but the SDP Youths and Supporters Coalition is calling it out for what it is: a desperate rebrand. And guess what? We’re not buying it!
Let’s be honest: El-Rufai’s record is not a shining example of democracy. His time in office? Marked by suppressing opposing voices, sidelining people who disagreed with him, and running things with an iron fist. Now, he wants to waltz into the SDP like he’s some reformer? Nah, we see through the act.
In a fiery statement on Friday, our president, Comrade Abdulsamad Bello, made it clear: El-Rufai is unfit and morally unqualified to be part of this party. His defection isn’t about progress; it’s about taking over and shaping the SDP to fit his own ambitions.
Here’s what’s really making us mad: the leadership of the SDP allowed this to happen behind closed doors. A backdoor deal? Sounds about right. And the moment El-Rufai joined, the chaos began.
Within days of defecting, his supporters stormed the SDP headquarters, demanding the resignation of our National Secretary, Olu Agunloye. Like, seriously? The guy just got here, and he’s already calling the shots? This isn’t leadership—it’s desperation.
Let’s not forget this is the same man who spent years bashing opposition parties and calling them irrelevant. But now that his relationship with the APC has gone sour, he’s suddenly running into our arms? Talk about hypocrisy!
Bello put it best: El-Rufai isn’t here to build; he’s here to bury the SDP before it even takes off.
We’re standing firm. El-Rufai’s entry into our party is a bad move, and we won’t stay silent. The SDP is supposed to be about inclusivity, democracy, and fresh leadership, but it is not a haven for politicians trying to save face.
We call on our party leadership to rethink this decision before it’s too late. The future of the SDP is at stake, and we refuse to let it be hijacked.
