Saudi Arabia Drops $5 Billion on a Futuristic AI Data Hub

Saudi Arabia Drops $5 Billion on a Futuristic AI Data Hub

Saudi Arabia is going all in on artificial intelligence, throwing a whopping $5 billion into building a next-level AI data center. And guess where? Right in the heart of NEOM, the kingdom’s futuristic mega-city.

This isn’t just any data center. It’s fully sustainable and boasts a 1.5 gigawatt capacity (translation: serious power!). Thanks to a fresh deal between DataVolt and NEOM, this high-tech hub will soon take shape in Oxagon, NEOM’s industrial zone. Fun fact: Oxagon is set to become the world’s largest floating industrial complex, yep, floating! Talk about sci-fi turning into reality.

If you haven’t heard of NEOM yet, buckle up! This mega-project is the brainchild of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, and it’s straight out of a sci-fi movie. One of its wildest projects is The Line, a jaw-dropping mirrored city stretching 170 km (105 miles) across the desert! The original plan was to house over a million people by 2030, but recent reports say the goal is now around 300,000 by the decade’s end. Still, that’s a lot of people living in a futuristic oasis.

While The Line and Oxagon are still under construction, NEOM has already launched its first operational project: a luxury resort called Sindalah, located on the Red Sea. The resort, launched in late 2023, is all about high-end living, stunning views, and next-level experiences.

Saudi Arabia isn’t just chasing cool tech; it’s planning for a future beyond oil. The Vision 2030 initiative is about diversifying the economy, and big investments like this AI data center are key. The goal? To make the kingdom a global leader in tech and innovation.
