Recall Drama: Natasha’s Constituents Want Her Out!

Recall Drama: Natasha’s Constituents Want Her Out!

The political heat in Kogi Central is getting serious! A group of registered voters from the district has officially submitted a recall petition against their suspended senator, Barr. Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan. And guess what? They’re not backing down!

On Monday, March 24, 2025, a group called Concerned Kogi Youth and Women stormed the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) headquarters in Abuja to drop off their petition. This petition, dated March 21, 2025, is calling for Natasha’s immediate removal from office.

Their reason? They’ve lost faith in her leadership, and they are making serious moves to ensure their voices are heard.

According to Charity Ijoshe Omole, the group’s leader, Natasha’s suspension from the Senate due to alleged misconduct has left Kogi Central without proper representation, and they’re not having it!

She stated, “We voted her in, and now we want her out. We can’t afford to be without a voice in the Senate.”

And they mean business! Out of 488,000 registered voters, over 250,000 have already signed the recall petition, a huge statement that this is no joke.

Addressed to INEC Chairman Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, the petition is titled: “Constituents Petition for the Recall of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan on Grounds of Loss of Confidence.”

In this document, the petitioners made it crystal clear that they are using their constitutional rights to recall the senator. Their reasons? Allegations of:

  • Gross misconduct
  • Abuse of office
  • Evasion of due process
  • Deceitful behavior that has embarrassed Kogi Central and tainted the image of the Senate

These constituents are done playing games. They want INEC to immediately begin the recall process and declare Natasha’s seat vacant. With over half of the district’s voters backing this move, they’re confident that this recall will go through.

The ball is now in INEC’s court. Will they move forward with the recall? Will Natasha fight back? One thing is clear: Kogi Central voters are speaking loudly and clearly.
