Postecoglou Blames Fatigue for Spurs’ Crisis
It’s been a tough ride for us lately, hasn’t it? After a 1-0 defeat at Nottingham Forest, our beloved Tottenham Hotspur sits in a disappointing 11th place in the Premier League. That’s nine losses in 18 games this season! Yikes!
So, what’s going on? Well, Ange Postecoglou has pointed to an injury crisis as a big reason for our struggles. Right now, we’re missing key players like first-choice goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario and centre-backs Cristian Romero, Micky van de Ven, and Ben Davies. Ouch! That’s a lot of talent sidelined.
Now, it’s not all doom and gloom. In other competitions, we’re shining a bit brighter. We’ve made it to the League Cup semi-finals and look good for the Europa League knockout stage. But here’s the catch: those extra matches are testing our squad. With so many players out, keeping up the energy is tough, especially when we’re asking our guys to play every three days.
Postecoglou acknowledged this fatigue, saying, “It’s only logical they are not going to be at their sharpest, but they are trying.” And you know what? He’s right! Despite having over 70% possession against Forest, we couldn’t convert that into goals. It’s frustrating, but the boys are giving it their all.
Unfortunately, things got worse when Djed Spence was sent off in stoppage time, leaving us even thinner for our next match against the Wolves. Our only fit natural centre-back, Radu Dragusin, limped off with an ankle injury. Postecoglou mentioned, “He was a bit sore,” so we’ll have to keep our fingers crossed for him.
In summary, while we’re facing a bit of a crisis, our squad is clearly pushing through the fatigue.
