My Suspension Is Unfair and Against Natural Justice – Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan
Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, who represents Kogi Central Senatorial District, has spoken out against her recent suspension from the Senate. She described the decision as unfair and a violation of natural justice, fairness, and equity.
She shared her reaction on Facebook after the Senate, acting on a recommendation from its Committee on Ethics, Code of Conduct, and Public Petitions, suspended her for six months. The Senate also ruled that her salaries and allowances be withheld during this period.
According to the Senate, the suspension was due to a “total violation of the Senate Standing Orders, 2023 as amended.” However, Akpoti-Uduaghan strongly disagrees, stating that the move goes against democratic values.
Speaking on the issue, she emphasized that intimidation and suppression will not silence her. She firmly declared that her suspension does not take away her legitimacy as an elected senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. She remains committed to serving her constituents and the country, vowing to continue her work until 2027 and beyond.
