Leaked Document Reveals EFCC Investigation into Socialite Aisha Achimugu

Leaked Document Reveals EFCC Investigation into Socialite Aisha Achimugu

A document obtained exclusively by PREMIUM TIMES has confirmed that businesswoman Aisha Achimugu is under investigation by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). This evidence contradicts recent media campaigns from her camp, which falsely claimed that the EFCC was not probing her.

EFCC Investigation and Flight from Nigeria

Earlier reports revealed that Ms. Achimugu left Nigeria after failing to respond to an EFCC invitation. Following this, her aide intensified efforts to deny the ongoing investigation, spreading misinformation through various media channels. Many online reports quoted anonymous sources denying that the EFCC had summoned her.

However, EFCC officials confirmed that Ms. Achimugu was invited on March 5 for questioning regarding alleged money laundering and a high-profile investment scam. A newly obtained investigation letter supports this claim.

Official Letter Confirms EFCC Probe

EFCC Letter to Aisha Achimugu

The letter, dated March 4 and signed by Adebayo Adeniyi, the acting zonal director of the EFCC in Port Harcourt, was sent to Ms. Achimugu’s residence in Abuja. It stated:

“This commission is currently investigating a case in which the need to obtain certain clarification from you becomes imperative. In view of the above, you are kindly requested to attend an interview with the undersigned through the Head of Investigation on Wednesday, 5th March 2025, by 10:00 hours prompt.”

EFCC Moves to Arrest Aisha Achimugu

Instead of appearing before the EFCC, Ms. Achimugu left Nigeria, reportedly on March 6 or 7. Investigators suspect she arranged the trip to evade questioning and possible arrest. Sources revealed that she is linked to Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

Following her sudden departure, the EFCC obtained an arrest warrant and is preparing to declare her wanted. A top EFCC official confirmed this development to PREMIUM TIMES.

Media Misinformation and Ongoing Investigation

In response to the probe, David Abakpa, an aide to Ms. Achimugu, launched a media campaign to mislead the public. He denied that the EFCC was investigating her and dismissed reports of her arrest as rumors spread by “unscrupulous elements.”

Despite these efforts, the EFCC continues its investigation into the allegations against her. Misinformation about the case is still circulating on social media, but the leaked document proves that the probe is real and ongoing.
