Ladoja Defends Tinubu’s Role in Rivers Crisis: Says It’s No Threat to Democracy
Former Oyo State Governor, Rasheed Ladoja, has defended President Bola Tinubu’s involvement in resolving the political crisis in Rivers State. He insists that Tinubu’s intervention should not be seen as a threat to democracy but as a temporary measure to restore peace.
Ladoja Speaks on Tinubu’s Involvement
Ladoja made these remarks in Ibadan while hosting guests for the Eid-el-Fitr celebration. He explained that the President’s actions had helped bring stability to Rivers, even if only for the short term. He urged political leaders in the state to set aside their differences and come together for a peaceful resolution.
Call for Dialogue and Patience
The former governor encouraged key players in the Rivers crisis to engage in discussions aimed at resolving their disputes. He emphasized that if their goal was truly to serve the people, they should find common ground instead of escalating tensions. He also advised the residents of Rivers and other concerned parties to remain calm as they await the court’s verdict on the case filed by governors of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
Lessons from Ramadan
Shifting his focus to the Eid celebration, Ladoja urged Nigerians to continue acts of kindness beyond Ramadan. He pointed out that the holy month teaches people to understand the struggles of the less privileged and embrace a life of compassion.
“Many people were already fasting involuntarily due to poverty before Ramadan started,” he said. “This period reminds us to care for those in need and live sacrificially.”
Ladoja’s message highlighted both the need for political stability and the importance of generosity, calling on Nigerians to work towards peace and unity.
