Gov. Lawal Grants Automatic Jobs to 16 Zamfara Nursing Graduates
In a heartwarming gesture, Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State has offered automatic employment to 16 nursing graduates from Sudan International University. This follows their evacuation from Sudan due to the ongoing conflict, and their determination to complete their education despite the challenging circumstances.
On Thursday, the governor officially presented the certificates of the graduates at the Government House in Gusau. These certificates were awarded after the students, who had been unable to sit for their final exams due to the war, were given the chance to complete their exams in Nigeria. Thanks to Governor Lawal’s intervention, the 16 nursing students were able to take their final exams in September 2023, with their certificates now issued by Sudan International University.
A statement from the governor’s spokesperson, Sulaiman Bala Idris, highlighted that these graduates were among 66 students sponsored by the Zamfara State Government who were evacuated from Sudan in 2023. The governor’s efforts were pivotal in ensuring these students could continue their studies and graduate, despite the turmoil.
During the certificate presentation, Governor Lawal encouraged the new graduates to serve as strong ambassadors for Zamfara, urging them to contribute to the state’s recovery. “Education is a critical area for our administration,” he said. “We are investing heavily in improving it, as it’s the foundation of a better society.”
He also reminded the graduates of their importance to the state’s healthcare sector, noting that while the state is building and rehabilitating hospitals, a qualified workforce is just as vital. In light of this, he proudly announced that all 16 nursing graduates would receive automatic employment with the Zamfara State Government.
Governor Lawal ended his speech by congratulating the graduates and reassuring them that their roles in the state’s healthcare system were a crucial part of its future development. “Your dedication to nursing is invaluable, and you’ve come at the perfect time,” he said. “Congratulations to all of you.”
