Give Him His Flowers! Femi Lazarus Backs Timi Dakolo on Gospel Music Pay

The internet has been buzzing lately over the big debate on money matters in gospel music. And guess what? Pastor Femi Lazarus just dropped some love and respect for singer Timi Dakolo on Instagram!

Posting a cool snapshot with Dakolo and Pastor Emmanuel Iren, Lazarus gave a big shoutout to the music star, calling him a “music legend” and urging people to celebrate him.

“My brother TimiDakolo is a music legend. Give him his flowers. What a man! He truly carries the burdens of musicians. His concerns are real. I love you,” he wrote.

Now, if you’ve been following the drama, you know this all started when Lazarus spoke about the financial expectations of gospel artists during his sermon. Dakolo wasn’t having it! He clapped back, insisting that gospel musicians deserve fair pay for their work. Things got heated online, and fans had a lot to say.

Lazarus later cleared the air, explaining that there’s a difference between “music ministers” and “music artists.” According to him, true gospel ministers shouldn’t put a price tag on their calling. He believes that if someone is making a living solely from gospel music, they should find alternative income sources unless they’re fully called into ministry.

But let’s be real, money issues in gospel music have been around for a while. Lazarus didn’t shy away from that fact. He admitted that many gospel artists struggle because churches don’t offer enough support. He called for better structures, ensuring that both event hosts and guests step up their game.

“Pain is real. From the pulpit to the pew, the pain is real. But we will be fine. This generation will not carry over past struggles. Better structures will be built. Hosts will do better. Guests will do better. We will have a better nation together,” he added.

Meanwhile, Dakolo had previously questioned Lazarus for charging fees for his school of ministry. This happened right after the pastor criticized an unnamed gospel singer’s financial demands for a performance.

So, where does this all lead? Well, one thing’s for sure: conversations like these push the gospel music industry forward. Gospel artists want respect and fair compensation, and church leaders want to uphold ministry values. Somewhere in the middle, there’s a balance to strike.

But for now, one message is clear:r give Timi Dakolo his flowers! The man has been standing up for musicians, and according to Lazarus, his heart is in the right place.
