Edo: Police Nab Five Suspects Over Shocking Murders of 7-Year-Old and Vigilante Commander

The Edo State Police Command just dropped some major updates, and trust me, it’s intense. They’ve arrested five suspects linked to two horrifying killings in the state. Buckle up because this story is a real rollercoaster.

Picture this: A father reports his son missing, only for the worst nightmare to come true. John Okojabhole, a resident of Jehovah’s Witness Road in Irrua, had been searching for his little boy, Evans, after he vanished on February 22. Sadly, his lifeless body was discovered a day later in the bushes near their home, brutally mutilated. His stomach was ripped open, ankles severed, and some fingers cut off. Absolutely chilling!

Police wasted no time and quickly arrested two suspects connected to this gruesome act. They’ve since been transferred to the State Criminal Investigations Department (SCID) in Benin for deeper digging. Justice must be served!

Meanwhile, in another part of the state, another tragedy struck. Victor Ogedengbe, a respected Vigilante Commander in Erah Camp, Owan East, met a brutal end on his farm on February 25. Reports say suspected herdsmen launched the deadly attack. The Owan East Local Government Chairman immediately reported the incident, sparking a swift investigation.

The good news? Police moved fast, arresting three suspects from the Erah community. Just like the others, they’re now in SCID’s hands for further questioning.

Following these back-to-back crimes, Edo’s top cop, Commissioner Betty Otimenyin, is not playing around. The command has beefed up security, especially in Uzanu and Okpekpe communities, where recent killings of farmers have put everyone on edge.

She’s also urging the public to stay sharp and report anything shady. “See something, say something,” she said, reminding everyone that community safety is a shared responsibility.

When the people and police work together, crime has no hiding place. With these arrests, Edo’s law enforcement is making it clear they’re out to protect and serve. Let’s keep the momentum going. Stay safe, stay informed, and always keep an eye out!
