Boko Haram Hits Kawuri: Six Patrol Rides and Armored Tanks Torched in Fresh Attack
Another sleepless night in Borno State. Late Sunday night, the usually quiet Kawuri village in Konduga Local Government Area got caught in the chaos as suspected Boko Haram militants stormed the community, leaving destruction in their wake.
These guys didn’t hold back. They set three Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) patrol vehicles on fire and also targeted three armoured tanks belonging to the military. The scene was like something out of an action movie, except this was real life, and the stakes were terrifyingly high.
I heard from reliable sources that the attack forced many villagers to flee into the bush for safety. Picture families scrambling in the dark, clutching their loved ones, just trying to survive another night in this never-ending nightmare.
But here’s the twist—our gallant military didn’t just sit back. They faced off with the attackers, managing to repel them without a single casualty. Now that’s some action-hero stuff right there! However, the terrorists didn’t leave quietly. Nope. They decided to pull a sinister move by planting Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) along the Konduga-Kawuri road, clearly trying to block any reinforcements.
Fast forward to Tuesday morning, and tragedy struck. Reinforced troops managed to navigate through the IED-laced road, but one brave CJTF member, Abba Godori, wasn’t so lucky. While making his way into Kawuri, he accidentally stepped on one of the hidden explosives and lost his life instantly. It’s heartbreaking.
And while I tried to get official confirmation from the police, ASP Kenneth Daso didn’t pick up. But a retired senior civil servant in Kawuri did speak up, confirming the attack and voicing concerns over the resurgence of violence in the area. The vibe here is frustration mixed with fear. How long will communities like Kawuri have to endure this kind of trauma?
Honestly, seeing stories like this unfold is tough. It’s a constant reminder of the resilience of the people in Borno State and the critical need for peace and security.
