Benue Schools to Benefit from Israeli Tech Support – Envoy
The Israeli Ambassador to Nigeria, Michael Freeman, has pledged his country’s support for Benue State by introducing innovative technology in schools. He made this commitment on Friday during a visit to the Bureau for Education and Quality Assurance (BEQA) headquarters in Makurdi, alongside Governor Hyacinth Alia.
Israel’s Commitment to Education
Freeman assured that Israel is ready to assist in improving education for children in Benue. He praised BEQA for its dedication to enhancing learning quality across the state.

Governor Alia highlighted that BEQA was established to align with his administration’s vision for educational reform. He acknowledged the hard work of BEQA’s Director-General, Terna Francis, and his team, noting their progress within a short period.
Enhancing Education Through Technology
According to Francis, the visit was a follow-up on discussions regarding Israel’s support in using technology for better monitoring and evaluation of schools. He pointed out that poor learning outcomes stem from issues like teacher truancy due to inadequate supervision. The proposed technology will help track teacher attendance and improve education quality without requiring physical inspections.
“This technology will strengthen monitoring, enhance teaching, and improve learning outcomes,” Francis explained. He emphasized that the governor’s commitment to educational reform is evident through this initiative.
Boosting Educational Standards
During the visit, Francis led the team on an office tour, explaining BEQA’s role in improving education. BEQA is responsible for monitoring and evaluating basic and post-basic schools in Benue. In the past 15 months, the agency has inspected about 1,680 schools to ensure compliance with quality standards.
The introduction of Israeli-supported technology is expected to further improve education in Benue, ensuring students receive better learning opportunities. This partnership marks a significant step toward modernizing the state’s education system and fostering academic excellence.
