Atiku Refutes Claims of Receiving Funds from Sanwo-Olu for 2023 Campaign

Atiku Refutes Claims of Receiving Funds from Sanwo-Olu for 2023 Campaign

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has denied allegations that he received money from Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for his 2023 presidential campaign.

In a statement released by the Atiku Media Office in Abuja, his media aide, Paul Ibe, dismissed the reports as false. He described them as baseless propaganda aimed at tarnishing Atiku’s reputation.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reported that Atiku was the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate in the 2023 election. However, Mr. Ibe made it clear that Atiku never had any financial dealings with Sanwo-Olu. He called the allegations “a blatant lie” and “political hogwash.”

According to the reports, Sanwo-Olu allegedly gave Atiku money belonging to Lagos State, and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) was investigating the claim. In response, Mr. Ibe challenged the EFCC to release its findings, stating there was no basis for such an investigation.

“Atiku does not know Sanwo-Olu and has never met him,” Mr. Ibe stated. “How can there be any financial transaction between them when they have no connection?” He emphasized that the accusations were politically motivated and had no truth to them.

He urged those spreading the false claims to stop their campaign against Atiku’s reputation. He also called on the EFCC to clarify its stance, putting an end to the misinformation.
