Actor Olaiya Igwe Expresses Regret Over Disappointing Tope Alabi

Actor Olaiya Igwe Expresses Regret Over Disappointing Tope Alabi

Veteran Nollywood actor, Olaiya Igwe, has publicly expressed deep regret over an incident involving popular gospel singer, Tope Alabi. In a recent interview with Baba Ibe TV, the actor revealed that he disappointed the singer on her wedding day, a mistake that still weighs heavily on him.

According to Igwe, the event occurred several years ago after the success of his hit movie Ololade Mr Money. As a reward for his achievement, he purchased a luxurious ‘V Boot’ Mercedes and proudly inscribed Ololade Mr Money 1 on it. However, shortly after acquiring the car, he traveled to Ibadan for a movie premiere, where he was robbed. Fortunately, the vehicle was recovered the next day after the news spread across radio stations and other media platforms.

Tope Alabi and her husband, Soji, later approached him, requesting to use the car as their official wedding vehicle. Igwe initially agreed, but fear took hold of him after she left. Concerned about the possibility of another robbery, he made the painful decision to ignore her calls the day before the wedding and ultimately failed to fulfill his promise.

Reflecting on the incident, the actor admitted that it remains one of his greatest regrets. Despite seeking forgiveness from Tope Alabi in a professional gathering in Ogun State, Igwe confessed that he still carries the guilt.

“What hurt me most and still hurts me is disappointing Tope Alabi. She came to me for help, and I let fear stop me from doing the right thing. Even though she has forgiven me, I still feel bad about it,” he said.

The actor also acknowledged how life has changed for Alabi since then. He now owns multiple luxury cars, some beyond his reach. He emphasized the importance of keeping promises and standing by one’s commitments.

Olaiya Igwe’s revelation serves as a lesson in accountability and trust. He advises others to honor their word and not allow fear to dictate their actions. He concluded by once again expressing his apologies to Tope Alabi and acknowledging the lasting impact of his decision.
