Afenifere Youth Leader Released After 12 Days in Captivity
After spending 12 days in captivity, Prince Eniola Joseph Ojajuni, the National President of the Afenifere Youth Council, has finally regained his freedom. His release was confirmed on Saturday, March 1, 2025, by the group’s National Secretary, Biodun Aderohunmu, who simply stated, “He has been released.”
A video that surfaced online showed Ojajuni speaking about his release. According to him, he was freed in Ibillo, a town in Edo State. However, details about how he was released remain unclear. It is still unknown whether a ransom was paid or if security agencies played a role in securing his freedom.
Ojajuni was abducted on February 17, 2025, in an incident that sparked widespread outrage. Many political figures, civil society organizations, and Yoruba interest groups called for his immediate release, fearing for his safety. His kidnapping was yet another reminder of the worsening security situation in Nigeria, where abductions have become all too common.
His return has brought relief to his family, friends, and supporters, who had been anxiously waiting for good news. In the coming days, Ojajuni is expected to share more about his experience in captivity and how he was finally set free.
