2 New Aircraft Arriving in March to Strengthen Cross River’s State Airline

In an exciting development for Cross River’s transportation sector, the state government has announced it will take delivery of two new aircraft in March 2025. This move is part of ongoing efforts to strengthen the state-owned airline, Calli Air, and improve air travel options for residents and visitors.

Governor Bassey Otu shared this news during a media briefing with journalists in Calabar on Tuesday. He explained that the decision to revive the state airline is aimed at offering a more reliable alternative for air travel, addressing long-standing issues with flight delays and cancellations that have affected those trying to reach Cross River.

The Governor emphasized that the state has worked diligently on maintaining its existing aircraft, and with the two new planes on the way, the airline is set to improve its services. “We are working on making Calli Air a top competitor in the airline industry and ultimately solve the challenges faced on the Calabar route,” Otu stated.

The state’s commitment to transforming transportation does not stop with aviation. Governor Otu also highlighted plans to develop a rail system to combat the rising costs of fuel and poor federal road conditions in Cross River. The development of the Obudu cargo and passenger airport is another priority, which will provide more options for air travelers.

As part of this broader vision, Otu revealed that Cross River will soon launch a state transport master policy. This initiative will blend modern values with the policies introduced by previous administrations, revitalizing them for the needs of today’s generation. “We have learned from the experiences of our predecessors and now aim to breathe new life into these policies,” he explained.
